Digital Checkups at Dr Batra's Dental Hub

A routine dental checkup is the most important step in protecting your long-term oral health. By catching micro-cavities, structural enamel weakness, and gum disease early, we save you from pain and complex restorative work later on.

At Dr Batra's Dental Hub, Dr. Gursimran Singh Batra performs thorough visual evaluations using advanced digital intraoral cameras. We display real-time live footage of your teeth on a chairside screen, allowing you to see exactly what we see for complete diagnostic transparency.

What is Included in Our Checkups?

  • Intraoral Digital Scans: Real-time high-definition camera analysis of teeth surfaces and gum borders.
  • Periodontal Gum Screening: Checking gum pocket depths to catch signs of gingivitis early.
  • Structural Risk Assessment: Finding structural fractures, worn restorations, or alignment issues that could lead to tooth wear.
  • Digital Diagnostic X-rays: If required, low-radiation panoramic or RVG scans to check bone density and roots.

How Often Should You Have a Check-up?

For most adults, every six months. Your dentist may recommend three- to four-monthly intervals if you have a history of gum disease, are diabetic, smoke, or are prone to decay. Children benefit from six-monthly visits because their teeth change quickly and problems progress faster.

The interval is not arbitrary. Most dental problems are painless in their early stages — decay does not hurt until it is deep, and gum disease is painless until it is advanced. Six months is short enough to catch things while they are small, cheap and simple to fix.

What Happens During Your Visit

  1. History and concerns. Any pain, sensitivity, bleeding or changes you have noticed, plus medical history and medication.
  2. Clinical examination. Every tooth checked for decay, cracks, wear and failing restorations, using a digital intraoral camera so you can see what we see on the chairside screen.
  3. Periodontal screening. Gum pocket depths measured around the teeth. Healthy is 1–3 mm; deeper readings indicate attachment loss.
  4. Soft tissue check. Cheeks, tongue, palate and throat examined.
  5. Bite and joint assessment. How your teeth meet, and any signs of grinding or jaw joint strain.
  6. X-rays if indicated. Digital radiographs show decay between teeth and bone levels that a visual exam cannot reveal.
  7. Plan and discussion. What we found, what needs doing now, what can be monitored, and what it will cost — before anything starts.

Decay between teeth is visible on X-ray long before it is visible or painful.

Problems We Catch Before They Hurt

  • Early decay between teeth, visible only on X-ray, treatable with a simple filling rather than a root canal
  • Gingivitis, while it is still completely reversible
  • Cracked or worn teeth before they fracture
  • Failing old fillings and crowns before decay gets underneath
  • Grinding damage that a night guard can prevent
  • Soft tissue changes that warrant further investigation

Check-ups for Children

Children should have their first visit by their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short and gentle and are mostly about familiarity — a child who has been several times without anything unpleasant happening has no reason to be afraid. See paediatric dentistry and our guide to a child's first dental visit.

What It Costs

A routine examination is one of the least expensive appointments in dentistry, and it is the one that prevents the expensive ones. Cost depends on whether X-rays or a scaling appointment are needed alongside. You will be told the cost before anything is carried out — ask us when booking.

During your checkup, Dr. Batra will perform a thorough visual exam, utilize digital intraoral cameras to show you live scans, evaluate your gums, and recommend any necessary digital X-rays to check beneath the enamel.

3. Are checkups necessary if my teeth feel fine?

Yes! Many dental problems, such as early-stage decay or gum disease, do not cause pain or discomfort until they become severe. Regular exams help prevent these issues entirely.
